Roundtable fmcg & competition

On Wednesday 14 April 2021 the annual roundtable fmcg & competition took place at Defares with the GM’s and sales directors of high-calibre food companies, such as Heineken, Coca Cola, Red Bull, Heinze, Friesland Campina, HAK, Haribo, Johma, PepsiCo, Arla, Danone/Nutricia, Cloette, Mars, etc. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the roundtable took place through WebEx.

Amongst other things, the interactive meeting concentrated on the compatibility with competition rules of the commonly used practice by retail organisations to reorganise (part of) the range of products to enforce a better result in the annual round of negotiations. Furthermore, the meeting concentrated on the new Act concerning Unfair Trading Practices in Business-to-Business Relationships in the Agricultural and Food Supply Chain, which contains a ‘blacklist’ of unfair trading practices that are prohibited, and a ‘grey list’ of trading practices that require the explicit previous agreement of both parties.
